Training Road Rides
Sunday Morning Intermediate Training Rides

Every Sunday we train.  October is just around the corner.  Are you riding the MS150 Bike To The Beach?  Come out and train with us.  We're training for various rides, the MS150, Livestrong Challenge, River Region Classic... just to name a few.

We've recently started up these training rides that will run through the end of the year. These are intermediate rides, but we still have our 'no-drop' policy. These are not beginner rides.

Pace information:     Steady: 12-14 mph         Moderate: 15-17 mph

These rides are open to members/non-members and all riding clubs.

All of these rides are located on our calendar and in our forum.  We also email everyone each week as a reminder. We ride a different route every Sunday.  As we get closer to October, we will have longer ride route choices.  We'll also be adding informative clinics to the schedule as well.

Sunday #1 Road Ride Kyle Seale Pkwy
Come join us the first Sunday of every month for the Kyle Seale Prkwy ride.  Ready for some fun rolling hills. We're gonna ride the loop out to Kyle Seale Parkway. This is not a beginner ride.  We have 2 groups.  Group One does a Steady Pace of 12-14 mph and about 25 miles.  Group 2 does a Moderate Pace of 15-17 mph and about 36 miles.

We will be meeting at the Spectrum parking (1604 and Bitters) at 6:45 am and will have wheels down at 7:00 am. We'll ride 1604 to Kyle Seale and thru to Babcock, then back again. Yes, some of us will get coffee around 6:15-6:30, Starbucks 1604 at Blanco Road. We have a 25 mile and 35 mile route that has some nice challenging hills.

Sunday #2 Road Ride Stone Oak and Bullis County Park
Every second Sunday of the month we have 2 Sunday Morning Rides!!

We start at 6AM at Stone Oak. (see specific start info below) The We ride again at Bullis Park at 8AM. (see the details for both below) These rides are open to members/ non-members & all riding clubs. These are not a beginner rides.

Don't fret.

Ride 1: This is the best training ride we have. It sounds alot more intimidating than it is. We've had beginners show up and do this ride. They took their time, kept pedalling and did great!! If you're serious about improving your riding, this is where we 'get it done'. We consider it a medium-paced ride, but with all these hills - we're all kinda slow.

Come join us as we challenge the hills of Stone Oak. It is the best conditioning ride we have, and it will get you ready for just about any ride this state has to offer. This ride is open to members/non-members & all riding clubs.

Those of us that want coffee, meet at the Starbucks at 1604 and Blanco at 5:30am.

We start the ride at the corner of Huebner & Stone Oak. (same corner as bicycle heaven) I know this is an uncomfortable start time, but we've got to get there and finish before the traffic starts. It is well worth the trouble, and it gives you a great excuse for a nap later in the day!

Wheels down at 6am and we will do 10-15 miles of the wonderful hills of Stone Oak. Now for ride 2 info:

After the Stone Oak ride, we jump in our cars and head over to Bullis County Park off Blanco Road. This is a medium-paced ride.
We'll meet at Bullis County Park, on Blanco Road 7.5 miles north of Loop 1604.

There will be 2 groups. The medium group will do the 22 mile ride at a pace of about 13mph avg. The faster group will do a 33 mile ride at about a 15 mph avg. We'll be meeting around 8AM with wheels down at 8:15AM.

This is a sceniic, flowing ride with minimal hills.  Join us for one or join us for both!

Sunday #3 Road Ride    T    B    A
This new route will be announced soon!!!!

Sunday #4 Road Ride Blanco, Tx
We're riding in the beautiful hill country of Blanco Texas. This is an intermediate level ride.

We have 2 groups. Group One does a Steady Pace of 11-13 mph and about 21 miles. Group 2 does a Moderate Pace of 14-16 mph and about 34 miles. Remember we have a 'no drop' policy, so you always have someone to ride with.  In April we’ll have longer routes to choose as well, as everyone’s endurance increases.

We are meeting at the Starbuck's at 1604/281. (This is the new one, outside 1604, near Lifetime Fitness, behind SACU. Not the one next to HEB) If you want coffee, try & get there by 6:15AM and we will drive out at 6:30AM to the Blanco Courthouse on 281.  Wheels down at 7:15AM. Park at Old Blanco County Courthouse - Main Street between 3rd and 4th Streets. On that side of 281, we ride down 4th street to Mesquite St. Left on Mesquite. That takes us past Blanco State Park. We ride County Rd 102 and take a left on Blanco-Kendelia Rd (Little Blanco River). We ride that around to 281 and then turn around and ride back to the courthouse.  For those that remember, yes, lunch at that amazing BBQ place with the outstanding blackberry cobbler smothered in ice cream!

We will have ride maps and cue sheets available at the ride.  In case of bad weather that causes a cancellation, we will post an update in the Emergency Info section on our forum.

Sunday #5 Road Ride Cibolo
We'll only do this ride in March, June, August & November .  Please note the change in the start time. I know that's really early, but... it is getting so hot... and I want everyone safe from the heat.  We have modified this route and will have cue sheets and maps available. We have 2 groups. Group One does a Steady Pace of 12-14 mph and about 23 miles. Group 2 does a Moderate Pace of 15-17 mph and about 35 miles.

We are meeting at Starbucks at the Forum (1604 & 35). We are leaving the Starbucks parking lot at 6:30 for a short caravan to Cibolo. We begin the ride at 7AM.  If you want/need coffee, come a few minutes earlier... We start at 7AM. The route is very pretty with almost no hills. (there you go everyone - a 'scenic' ride)
