The mission of ChildSafe is to restore DIGNITY, TRUST and HOPE to children traumatized by sexual abuse.
Unfortunately, child sexual abuse is a sad reality in our society. However, with intervention and
support, children and their families victimized by sexual abuse are able to overcome what may have seemed an insurmountable obstacle. In the past two years, we have seen a 59% increase in demand for ChildSafe’s services. Last year, we served 3,198 children and families in our community.
Proceeds raised through Art From the Heart provide support for: • Crisis and long-term counseling to kids and families • Recorded forensic interviews of victims and families • Sexual assault medical exams of victims
Sexual abuse affects a child at every level of their being: physically, mentally and spiritually – in order to heal, a child needs access to comprehensive services addressing each of these levels. ChildSafe was established in 1992 to combat child sexual abuse in our community. Under ChildSafe many organizations including local law enforcement, prosecution, area hospitals and Child Protective Services collaborate to the benefit of each child. Together, we offer a child-friendly environment where services are available in one location.
• Emergency services to families: clothing, toiletries, bill assistance
• Community programs
• Sports programs for kids (CARE)
• Support programs for parents
• Court orientation • Case management • Victim advocacy • Professional education • Medical training
• Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Training

Over 67% of the families served by ChildSafe have an annual income of less than $15,000.
Based on financial limitations, without ChildSafe, the activities and programs that play such a crucial role in the healing process for child sexual abuse victims would not be an option for most of the families we serve.
Children of sexual abuse who do not get help have a higher chance of:
• Dropping out of school
• Drug use
• Suicide
• Becoming a sexual abuser themselves
